Snowy Engagement |Twin Lakes, CO|

Right out of a Disney movie, this engagement session was gorgeous gay magic. I’m still awe-struck when I ogle at their gallery. Amberly and Jay are the absolute sweetest couple, I am so happy that they chose me to be their wedding photographer. On their first date they got matching sweaters from a random town in Virginia and you bet your ass they wore them for our consultation, they are definitely my people.

Jay is a hockey ref and I thought it would be super cute to go skating at Twin Lakes. Jay’s eyes lit up and Amberly looked white as a ghost when I mentioned skating on an iced-over lake. Jay was very reassuring that they would hold Amberly and even if they did fall… it would make super cute memories and photos. “We” took another route... PIZZA.

But first, we began their engagement session at Twin Lakes to capture the cutesy cuddly images to announce to the world they are getting hitched. The dancer in Amberly came out at Twin Lakes and I encouraged Jay to show me their go-to dance moves. While Amberly was busting out her version of the Chicken Dance, Jay thought they’d twerk along beside their soon-to-be-bride and dang it was adorable, see for yourself. Then, by the grace of Genie, snow starts to softly fall in front of my lens to add a touch of romantic zest to the love story that is Amberly and Jay it was like something out of a fairytale.

The cold doesn’t bother them anyway, but after a while, we decided that it was time to warm up. As we carefully drove the winding road from Twin Lakes to Leadville, they laughed and talked about their future together. They couldn't wait to start their new life as a married couple. So much so that a week later they eloped.

We ordered a pizza from Leadvilles best joint, High Mountain Pies, of their favorite meals brought out their playful side and made Amberly feel way more safe compared to busting her butt on the ice. It was giving Lady and The Tramp, there wasn’t music, but “Bella Notte” was the vibe. Once we got our fix and our hands regained blood flow, we took a sexy stroll downtown. Right outside of the historic Manhattan Bar we played around with showing off those rings and really show off their model walks. Vogue hasn’t called yet but any day now.

I always ask couples if they want a different season than their wedding date to diversify the printed imagery in the home. Never did I think that a Winter engagement could be so delightful. I can not wait for November 11th to celebrate their union with their families and chosen families. Their love and joy are a reminder that true love knows no bounds and that everyone deserves to find their soulmate and live happily ever after.
